The CAP 222 is a two-seater aerobatic training and competition aircraft project. Its particularity is to be built entirely of composites.
This device is the French version of the Giles G202 designed by the American company Akrotech (bankrupt in 1998) which is not certified. APEX Aviation, the company that took over the Mudry aircraft, is working on the project to certify the aircraft to JAR 23 standards.
When the CAP 222 is produced, it will enter into direct competition with the CR120 and the EXTRA 200. The performance of the CAP 222 allows a high roll rate of 500 degrees per second, higher than certain competition single-seaters such as the CAP 232. However, the overall performance will not be identical since the CAP 222 has a 200 horsepower engine compared to more than 300 for the single-seaters.
